The Swiss Association of Toy Libraries (VSL)
The Swiss Association of Toy Libraries (VSL) is the umbrella organisation of independent toy libraries from all over Switzerland. The Association was founded in 1980 in Fribourg and had 37 members. The current membership stands at 377 toy libraries. The VSL has had an office in Schaffhausen since the beginning of 2008.
Switzerland is the country with the greatest number of toy libraries relative to its population.
Aims of the VSL
- Networking between individual regions, their toy libraries and presidents
- Connections with toy libraries abroad
- Connections with organisations concerned with promoting play, children, education or related subjects
- Promoting play
- Increasing awareness of toy libraries
- Support of regional toy libraries in the areas of training, public relations, consultancy and information
